With Rockall, the House Band stays within the Celtic tradition and with acoustic instruments, while maintaining a fresh and lively sound. All four group members are multi-intrumentalists, more dedicated to blending and interweaving than soloing. In particular, Roger Wilson uses fiddle and viola as a sympathetic background drone more than as a solo instrument. And Ged Foley's vocals have a matter-of-fact delivery that lets the storytelling tunes alternate effectively with the instrumental tracks. Voor trackinfo klik op foto
We had heard a rumour that Kila were doing a film soundtrack but being Kila it was not a couthy Irish film, it was a Japanese film.
But there is no reference here to say that this is a soundtrack, so we assume that it is not. Too bad. They could make an amazing soundtrack for some thinking film-maker.
As ever the music is precise, exciting and very well recorded. Their Japanese guest fits in like one of the family and adds to the already exotic collection of instruments (& lauguages).
