This sequel to "Traditional Irish Music from London," by the talented trio of John Blake, mostly on flute and adding some piano accompaniments, fiddle player Lamond Gillespie, and Mick Leahy on plucked strings, with box player Tommy Maree joining in on a few tracks, has the same easy groove and convivial sound as their first album. Once again, the listener can easily feel as if taking in a session at the corner pub, but one in which the highly skilled musicians are truly able to converse in music. Like on the previous album, great attention is given to the details of each tune, settings having been sourced from 78-era recordings or from the previous generations of players in the London scene. Humor is also present, as with the closing "Laurel Tree" track, where the pianist puts an end to the proceedings in uncommon, but smile-inducing fashion. Delightful. (2008)
